We understand the complexities of life events, disabilities and diagnoses. Having the right cat can make a huge difference.
Experience finding the right cat for your needs with Starfish Cats. We have over 40 years of cat knowledge as individuals as and a small team that’s into triple figures! This is combined with the experience of a doctor, a professional carer, a trauma informed coach with the world leading expert in this field and an adult with Down’s Syndrome and Autism. Between us we hold a multitude of qualifications and life experiences which we feel qualify us to work with both humans and cats.

At Starfish Cats, we have a small number of young cats available to people needing or wanting a cat that suits their needs. These kittens are given love and emotional security from the start. They are not rehomed until they are ready. At Starfish Cats we know kittens benefit hugely from staying with their mum and littermates until well beyond the advisory 8 weeks. Kittens love to play and socialise until at least 12 weeks old. We allow them this extra time to develop confidence and trust. We understand the individual cat and match with the right person. Visits are essential.

To date we have supported adults, children and their families find a cat that is right for their needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, school refusal, Down’s Syndrome, learning disabilities, dementia, chronic pain, agoraphobia, PTSD, cPTSD, domestic abuse, post separation abuse, bereavement. No two individuals or families are the same. We care. We want to understand enough so that you feel confident that the cat is right for you. We also understand that needs change and life events happen so we always offer support for the unexpected.

Reach out to discuss the needs of you, your family or a loved one in confidence. Whether you’re simply making an enquiry or have your heart set on a cat, a conversation whether initially by text or phone is always welcomed prior to an essential visit.

Starfish Cats support the domestic abuse charity Refuge. For every cat matched with a new owner, Starfish Cats makes a donation to Refuge, in the hope of raising awareness of Domestic Abuse and Post Separation Abuse particularly in families with caring responsibilities.
